APIS Week 2020
The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) recently partnered with Atlanta Public Schools to host Aerospace Professionals in Schools (APIS) week. The event, which took place in October, focused on exposing youth and young adults to careers in aviation through in-school activities led by professionals in the aviation and aerospace industries.
“Atlanta public schools are at the heart of our city so I was overjoyed at the opportunity to partner and include their students in APIS Week,” said Anya Kearns, OBAP Southeast Region Director and Endeavor Air Captain.
“60 OBAP volunteers reached over 500 local students across 50 schools and hopefully inspired them to dream big! That’s what we’re here for – to show kids that the sky is not the limit, its the goal,” Kearns said.
Nationally, OBAP reaches tens of thousands of students each year through the APIS program. To learn more about APIS Week 2020 and OBAP, visit www.obap.org.
