New Orleans, LA - The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) is proud to partner with United Airlines as the title sponsor of the 2023 OBAP Annual Convention, taking place August 9-11 in New Orleans. This year's convention theme is "Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow," and promises to bring together aerospace professionals from across the industry for three days of networking, professional development, and celebration.

"We are thrilled to have United as our title sponsor for the 2023 OBAP Annual Convention," said OBAP Board Vice Chair and conference committee chair, United Captain Tomica Adams. "Their support and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the aerospace industry aligns perfectly with OBAP's mission and values, and we look forward to working together to create an unforgettable convention experience for all attendees."

As the title sponsor, United will be prominently featured throughout the convention, and more importantly, representatives will be on hand to meet with attendees and discuss career opportunities with the airline.

“At United, we are committed to creating pathways that build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and world, this includes launching innovative programs such as the United Aviate Academy for pilot careers and Calibrate for technician careers, which have consistently exceeded our goal that 50% of our cohort participants are women or people of color," said Managing Director and Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer Jessica Muench. "Our longstanding partnership with OBAP is key in helping us to identify, build and mentor the next generation of aviation professionals."

This lead sponsorship builds on United and OBAP’s longstanding partnership. In addition to organizational support, United has partnered with JPMorgan Chase and Boeing to provide scholarship funding to OBAP members attending the United Aviate Academy since 2021. United is the only major U.S. airline to wholly-own a flight training school.

The convention will feature a range of workshops, panel discussions, and networking events, as well as a career fair and hands-on aerospace sessions for local youth. And, true to OBAP tradition, there will be plenty of fun and entertainment as attendees experience the unique culture and hospitality of New Orleans.

Registration for the 2023 OBAP Annual Convention will open in early May, with discounted rates available for OBAP members. For more information and to register, visit www.obap.org/convention.
