ACADEMY OF MODEL AERONAUTICS
A long-standing partnership between OBAP and the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) has been formalized to provide youth and adults with opportunities to initiate or increase their participation in full-scale or model aviation.
The partnership will assist the two organizations as we move forward with collaborative programs that nurture and support the growth of aviation participation, while being respectful of each group’s mission.
Both organizations provide curriculum support and materials for middle and high school aviation and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-related subjects. This is done through AMA’s UAS4STEM, AeroLab, and additional activities, and OBAP’s ACE Academy, Project Aerospace, Solo Flight Academies, and other aerospace educational opportunities.
In 2015, OBAP and the AMA, in partnership with Fly Robotics, implemented sUAS Training in Memphis and Mobile, AL to teach students to assemble, program, conduct testing and fly small unmanned aerial systems. The organizations seek to amplify partnership efforts in the years ahead.
