Available Leadership Positions
OBAP’s exciting new Explore Aerospace (EA) program gives students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of aviation and aerospace through a hands-on STEM-based curriculum from the comfort of home. Over the course of 12 weeks, students will learn from industry professionals, about principles of flight, aerodynamics, aerospace careers, meet guest speakers, go on virtual tours and so much more!
The Explore Aerospace Program is seeking 20 individuals, preferability with a background in teaching, education, or mentorship. Those without the aforementioned experience, but who have a strong desire to become an Explore Aerospace Instructor will still be considered for the program. We will also consider current collegiate chapter members who are interested in becoming an Explore Aerospace Instructor. Prospective instructors will be interviewed and formally accepted into the program by an Explore Aerospace Program Director. The interview may include an Explore Aerospace Assistant Director, APIS Director, HR Chair, Program Chair, and/or Regional Director.

The Explore Aerospace team is currently seeking collegiate applicants for the Coordinator position to assist with this exciting, new program.
- Scheduling Instructors for weekly courses
- Sending student and parent communications and reminders
- Gathering photo and video from events
- Collecting and reporting on feedback surveys
The Scholarship Program Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the OBAP Scholarship Program, and responsible for the distribution of up to $250,000 in awards annually. The ideal candidate will have a combination of strong interpersonal skills needed to lead a team, the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively when interacting with OBAP constituents, and the organizational skills to manage a complex program. The ideal candidate must have a passion to learn with the goal of continually improving program performance.
The Director will:
- Motivate and lead an OBAP team of volunteers to produce positive outcomes for the scholarship program
- Provide vision and leadership to develop and improve OBAP scholarship processes, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate effectively with the OBAP Communications Team and OBAP Board of Directors to develop effective donor management strategies
- Assess industry trends to determine the best mix of scholarship offerings that result in maximum impact for constituents
- Produce an annual budget
- Communicate effectively with administrators of back-end web-based software applications
- Communicate program performance via the production of compelling presentations and reports using program data and metrics
- Lead the program team through a deliberative process to ensure scholarships are awarded in a fair, equitable, and consistent manner
Ideal qualifications include:
- High level of experience within the aerospace and/or education industry
- Demonstrated experience in effective leadership in a business/program management environment
- Some experience in business/engineering process design (preferred)
- Some experience in accounting, finance, or budgeting (preferred)
- Some experience in data analysis (preferred)
- Very strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on emotional intelligence and providing effective feedback
- Very strong verbal and written skills
- Very strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong web application skills (Spreadsheets, Presentation, Document Creation, et. al), database experience highly desired
- Previous OBAP committee or team experience is highly desired
Additional requirements:
- Occasional travel to OBAP events will be required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to OBAP policies
- Must be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement
- Must be willing to disclose any conflicts of interest

A scholarship team leader is one of the core program members who manage the day to day functions of the team. These members are involved in steering policy and procedures, as well as managing all program processes. These team members need to become expert in their knowledge of the program and act as leaders for both internal partners and external partners. Additionally, these team members participate in the selection process for awarding scholarships.
Duties include:
- Manage and update OBAP scholarship processes, policies, and procedures
- Interact with scholarship donors to ensure mutual expectations are met
- Learn, understand, and manage back-end web-based software applications (no coding required)
- Update spreadsheets with program data
- Constructively collaborate with the program chair and OBAP leadership
- Participate in scholarship reviewer duties listed below
- Assist in the creation and publishing of program metrics and reports
- Perform delegated duties as directed by the program chair
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Strong web application skills (Spreadsheets, Presentation, Document Creation, et. al), database experience highly desired
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and use a web-based scholarship management system
- Ability to effectively use web teleconference software (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
- Some experience in HR recruitment processes or highly experienced in an aerospace career field
- Previous OBAP committee or team experience is highly desired

A scholarship reviewer participates in the program award selection process. These team members focus solely on reviewing applications, interviewing, and scoring candidates throughout the award selection process. Reviewers are not expected, or tasked, with the management of the program. The primary tools for reviewers will be a web-based scholarship management application and teleconferencing software. Their work will primarily be carried out during the scholarship award cycle (typically from March through June). Depending on the number of applicants, the time commitment will vary. Reviewers will be assigned to no more than 3 scholarships to participate in.
Team members are also expected to participate in training activities.
Duties:
- Participate in reviewing and scoring student applications
- Participate in conducting interviews via teleconference, and deliberating with fellow team members to make recommendations for the determination of final awards
- Attend occasional training sessions to remain proficient in program processes
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and use a web-based scholarship management system
- Ability to effectively use web teleconference software (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
- Some experience in HR recruitment processes or highly experienced in an aerospace career field

Midwest Assistant Regional Director roles, duties & responsibilities:
- Assist the Regional Director in overseeing activities within their region

- Assist the Regional Director in planning Meet & Greet events in their region
- Regional Directors are encouraged to participate in APIS events within their region
- Assist in planning and coordinating APIS Week events within their region
- Support collegiate chapters with collegiate visits
- Manage Regional Budget
- Attend OBAP annual meetings which includes the Spring Meeting and Annual Conference
